Second Home

February 20, 2017

One foot out the airplane, far from our home

humid air surrounds me and my damp hair

my grandparents at their sweet house play host

dragging my luggage up the wooden stairs

Lookin’ out of bays, I know I’d see levies

rolling likes tsunamis except they’re green

in the city it’s sketchy with alleys

skip that and find charm in parts unforeseen

Smell of spices lure me into cafes

unable to resist the seafood here

so the waiters bring out tray, after tray

after this meal, good thing my aunt lives near

I wish I could stay here longer, no can

Will wait until the next time and pre-plan
