There is a fear I have every time I sit down on the toilet. Yes, that dreaded feeling you get when you flush the toilet and it’s clogged. The utter disappointment in yourself when you vowed you would never let this happen again.

That was me on the last day of Spring Break. Started off a normal day; I woke up, got out of bed, then went for my morning pee, like every person does. Then I made the mistake of thinking that all that...

Best of all she loved this place… The plaque proclaims. Its misty green hills and windswept campus… Now she is part of them forever. It is but one brick-red plaque set in an oblong stone. It is but a simple matter of death.

I doubt very many people have truly stood out here in this circle of remembrance, and took some time to think. Why on Earth did she love this place? What was so special that she is tied to this place in deat...

I'm laying in my bed.

It's 2:13 AM. Five days before my first final.

I'm not sleeping; I'm mulling over physics problems, fussing over frictionless pulleys and massless strings.

I'm eating yogurt.

Well, not yet.

A question has stumped me.

I peel the tinfoil lid off the pocket of curdled milk and smile smugly at my breakfast in bed.

I realize I do not have a spoon.

I also realize that as a member of a progressive student body within a...

Simple words strung together

Create complex thoughts

You claim to be a writer

But leave words trapped on your tongue

Thoughts left unspoken

Are some of the worst

Because if you just urged yourself

If you just had a drop of self-esteem,

You could be solving the unsolvable

You are masterpiece

Broken up into torn corners

An original being.

Your thoughts are nothing like the others

Let the words trickle out of your mouth

The way you pour them o...

You came into my life like a boulder -

Came isn't the right word;

You crashed, you plowed, you smashed into my carefully crafted house.

Your eyes sparking like a flint, ready to set those walls I built around my heart ablaze.

They say that a rolling stone gathers no moss,

And you were always moving -

Running -

Chasing -

To stop you would have been a Sisyphean task, pointless as trying to stop the planet from spinning.

You cras...

I promise-

I’m fine

I am, I’ll do my laundry and stay on top of my homework,

I won’t waste everything you’ve-I mean- I -have worked for,

And I am ready

for this next chapter of my life- I mean-

Not a chapter that I wrote for myself but rather

A choose your own adventure that you turned to page 247 of,

Breaking the spine and wrinkling the thick paper cover,

But don’t worry, I’ll be good, I won’t worry about silly

Trivial things like havi...

  1. Love is complex series of brain functions and neuronal receptors and chemicals. It happens in your brain.

  2. Love is a complex series of brain functions and neuronal receptors and chemicals. It happens everywhere. Toes, hang nails, eyeballs, knee caps.

  3. Love is letting go even when you really don’t want to.

  4. Love is a deadly mixture of pink hearts, soft blankets, and mud.

  5. Love is a religion for the lonely. Y...

We’re the kind of art Pablo Picasso strived to create.  Freckled with imperfections, our spotted complexions somehow manage to give way to a smile… forcing the masses to marvel at our happiness because for some reason, only pretty girls are supposed to be happy?  When God created us he followed a pre-planned out dot-to-dot drawing book, our edges sharp, at times leaving us alone in our own minds wishing for his hands to create...

Dionysus hummed a jaunty little tune to himself as he walked down the street. By the gods, it was wonderful to wake up from a long nap to a world like this - a fledgling country soaked in alcohol, his greatest creation. The last time he had a nice long nap was when he’d moved to France in the year 380, helping them out with their fermentation techniques. He’d woken up to a revolution, which had been so terribly messy that he’d...

Crunch. Crack. Crunch.

“Wow, couldn’t I just walk quietly?” I thought to myself as each step inadvertently waged war against the forest floor. As I plodded along the trail (which seemed to be disappearing the further I walked), I let my senses wander. My eyes nonchalantly examined the silhouettes of my surroundings, and took in the bursts of green moss growing on the ragged tree trunks. The fog seemed to hover just above the fo...
